CONSTITUTION:A mixture for reaction contg. silica, preferably colloidal silica, alumina, preferably sodium aluminate, an alkali metal, preferably Na and a cyclic ether such as dioxane or THF is heated at about 100-160 deg.C in a hermetically sealed container for about 5 hours - 30 days to synthesize 10-membered oxygen-contg. ring type zeolite, Said mixture has SiO2/Al2O3 ratio of 1-200, H2O/OH<-> ratio of 10-300, OH<->/SiO2 ratio of 0.1-2 and cyclic ether/Al2O3 ratio of 1-100. By substituting cations belonging to IA, IB, IIA, IIB, IVA, VIB and VIII group elements and rare earth elements for the alkali metal contained in the resulting zeolite, zeolite suitable for use as catalyst is obtd.
