Apparatus for cutting grass particularly below barriers 2 provided with support posts 3 comprises two independent cutting heads 10 and 11 close to the ground supported respectively by the lower parts of uprights 5 and 6 of a gantry 4 which overhangs the barrier 2 and which is able to move therealong. Means for moving the two heads away from each other are provided, so that on their side they will each skirt around a post 3 of the barrier 2 and move back towards each other into the normal working position in which their respective field of cut 29, 29a at least partially overlap.
