D-Homosteroids with hormonal activity and the formula <IMAGE> in which the dotted lines in the A ring are optional C-C bonds; R<3> is oxo if ring A is saturated or is oxo, ( alpha -H, beta -OH) or ( alpha -H, beta -O-acyl) if ring A is unsaturated; R<17a beta > is hydrogen, C1-10-alkyl, benzyl, cyclohexylmethyl, acyl, tetrahydropyranyl or cycloalkenyl are prepared in a manner known per se starting from corresponding 17a-keto- or 3,17a-diketo-D-homosteroids.
