<p>The compound disc absorbs parasitic torsion in a vehicle clutch, comprising a radially flanged hub and a co-axial offset annular plate. Linked washers extend internally from the plate to house the flange, and relatively weak coil cprings are used to control relative rotation of the pieces. The springs are of square section wire and located by approx. rectangular windows at regular intervals on an intermediate circle of the flange, and have end caps. Local segmental pressings in the washers may house diametrically opposed spring barrel sectors with trapezoidal section ribs forming axial stops. The caps may be bevelled to match the window corner curvatures.</p> |
