The hollow cylindrical idler has perpendicular endfaces and is carried on stub axles. The axles (3) and end walls (2) should be integrated with the body (1), the walls thickening inwards from rim to axis. The maximum thickness of the wall where it goes over into the axle should be at most half the axle diameter, and the endface of each axle should be blind and integral with the axle.. The roller can be used with conveyor idlers, cable belts, scrapers and flight conveyors for all industrial applications. The idler is cheap and simple to manufacture and proof against corrosion. The method of manufacture envisages optimum material flow and continuity of forming. The idler remains sealed from outside and so clear of corrosive environmental influences.
