The plant cutting system is partic. for destruction of weeds in horticulture, agriculture, and forestry. The system uses red hot cutters, heated electrically, or sharply focussed high energy beams directed and impinging at the plants. The cutters, or the radiator, are connected to an appropriate electric current source and mounted on a transporter which can be moved over the respective soil. The radiator may have a swivelling and an aiming device, enabling to move the beam in a preset trace plane. The electrically heated cutter may be a resistive conductor, i.e. a wire or a rod, which can be heated to red hot temp. The resistive conductor may be encased in insulating material. The cutter has typically a high electric potential in relation to earth. If the cutter is in the form of a light arc electrode system, generating a number of light arcs in series or distributed over a surface.
|
