The built-up exhaust-line chamber of enamelled sheet steel is generally as in 2917586. However, it now has sheet-steel inserts (28,29,30) embodying perforations (33) round-edged (38) on the upstream- and with projecting rims on the downstream side. These rims may be bent up into the flow, form a cylindrical neck (36) or ragged-edged lobes (34), or be bent back flat to make the hole round-edged on both sides (35). With or instead of sheet-steel inserts, pre-formed ceramic discs (31) can be used, 5 to 25 mm thick with 3 to 80 mm dia. holes (39).
|
