Oxidn. hair-dye compsn. - contg. ethyl-4-amino-3-methyl-phenyl-amino-ethyl-methyl sulphonamide as developer and standard coupler

Oxidn. hair-dye compsns., contg. standard coupler components and additives, contain N-(2-(N-ethyl-N- (4-amino-3-methyl-phenyl) -amino)-ethyl)-methyl sulphonamide having formula (I) as developer component, opt. present as an inorganic or organic salt. Strong, fast red via brown and violet to blue-black shades are obtd. (I) are water-soluble, stable on storage and non-toxic and do not irritate the skin. (I) is commercially available as its sulphate having formula (I). 1.5H2SO4.H2O and was hitherto used as a photo-developer. The oxidn. hair-dye compsns. can also contain standard developer components and opt. standard, direct dyes. Developer-coupler combination content is 0.2-5 (1-3) wt.%, w.r.t. total hair-dye compsn. The hair-dye compsns. can be applied in a weakly acid to alkaline medium, esp. at pH 8-10, at 15-40 deg.C.
