Safety vent for vehicle fuel tank - has lateral buffer chambers with air blockage when vehicle overturned

The safety vent prevents fuel from escaping if the vehicle is turned over. A venting chamber (13) under the top of the tank is linked to the tank by two venting lines (9,10) and to the atmosphere by a third venting line. The two internal venting lines are taken in loops to each side of the tank and looped around widened buffer chambers (4,3) which connect each vent line to the tank. The loops are widened to form the buffer chambers and to break up any column of fuel when the vehicle is tilted to prevent a siphoning effect. This safety feature can be applied to most vehicle fuel tanks and provides a simple and safe protection without interfering with normal venting.
