The flow measurement device acts simultaneously as a non-return valve and has a control element (6) moving axially in a hollow cylinder (1) against the force of a spring (23). The control element acts on a distance transducer with a control edge acting on the cylinder. A radial projection (16) on the control element (6) and a shoulder (14) on the cylinder together form a valve. The angle of the side of the projection nearer the cylinder is less than 90 degs. and is in partic. 75 degs. The control element has a control collar (19) operating in conjunction with a cylindrical section (18) of the cylinder wall. The edge of the collar further from the base (9) of the control element lies in the same plane as the control edge (20) of the flow hole (17).
