A metallurgical treatment such as deoxidation, desulphurisation or alloying of molten steel directly in the ladle uses at least three lances which can be raised and lowered independent of each other on a lance carrier, and a chute for the admixture of alloying components. One lance has a head to measure the temperature and oxygen potential and for attachment of a sampler, the second introduces deoxidising agents (aluminium, calcium, silicon) through a steel tube with little burn-up loss, and the third is a refractory sheathed tube for the addition of desulphurising agent. A porous brick in the ladle bottom is used to introduce an inert purging gas. This is a simple method of achieving the final steel analysis in the ladle and to correct the oxygen and sulphur content of the melt, as well as its temp.
|
