The cooling system relates to circuit cards mounted horizontally in stacks inside an enclosure. A typical application is in telecommunications installations. The high loss components, typically resistors (3), are mounted at one end of the circuit card (1). At this end are cut-out sections (2) spanned by the component (3). Covering each component, or the whole of the outer edge of the card, is an angled air deflector (4). The end of the card and deflector open into a vertical duct (8) through which the heated air escapes from each card. The duct is formed on one side of the cubicle. At the top it is closed by an angled plate (7), and provided with an opening (6) in the vertical, wide side (5), through which air can escape. The bottom of the duct is open to give a good chimney effect. There are also air inlets in the cubicle to assist in giving an air flow over each card from the inside towards the high loss components at the outer edge.
|
