摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To obtain a liq. crystal cell with a superior orienting property and superior electrooptical characteristics by forming vertically orienting films on the insides of the substrates of a liq. crystal cell with silicone resin having a three-dimensional crosslinked structure contg. specified repeating structural units to enable the substrates to be sealed with frit. CONSTITUTION:Silicone resin having a three-dimensional crosslinked structure contg. repeating structural units represented by the formula (where R is H, F, alkyl, phenyl or the like) is applied to transparent electrode 6 on the surface of substrate 1 and calcined to form vertically orienting film 2 having a three-dimensional structure. This substrate 1 is set opposedly to other electrode substrate 1 with spacer 3 in between and joined together with adhesive 4, and phase transition guest-host type liq. crystal 5 or the like is injected into the space to obtain a liq. crystal cell. Since each film 2 has high heat resistance, substrates 1, 1 can be heat sealed at about 450 deg.C with frit glass as adhesive 4. Thus, high moisture resistance, a long life and high reliability are obtd.</p>
