<p>The machine for winding a strip of material around an article carried on a turntable (3) uses a brake (45) under the turntable and incorporates a clutch in the turntable drive. The strip passes through a slot at the bottom of a sensing arm (25) which controls the clutch and brake. The sensing arm is mounted on a spindle (26) forming an axis of rotation carrying two control discs (33,40) each with a groove (32,39) across its edge. Adjacent to each disc is a control valve (35,42) with an arm (34,41) on top, carrying a roller (46) at its end, operated by the groove on the disc. One valve (35) is connected to a pressure cylinder (37) with its piston (38) connected by an arm (31) to the clutch for the belt drive for the turntable. The other valve is connected to a second pressure cylinder (44) which operates the brake.</p> |
