Connector joining two flat parallel conductor cards - uses spring-loaded contacts held in grooves in insulation housing

The main housing (19) for the connector is fastened to one of the boards (10). It has moulded into it a series of parallel channels into which individual conductor elements (15) are laid. These are held in position by overlapping projections (21,22). At the contact end, the retaining channel is deepened (30) and the conductor folded (14) to give a spring effect. The mating board (11) can have a conventional edge conductor array (13). This board is held in position by the board assembly such that when the contacts (14) slide over the conductor faces (13) sufficient pressure for a good electrical connection is exerted. The conductor elements (15) are retained in the housing (19) by an insulation block (23) which is keyed into the housing edges.
