It comprises trays (4) in two parts (5-6) temporarily stacked up and automatically separated from each other; each tray (4) having a series of holes through its depth arranged in successive rows in which are engaged empty strainers (2); the said trays, superposed and lined up in a large-capacity vessel, being taken after the strainers have been filled with a liquid such as milk, and carried one by one along a system consisting of a conveyor and guide rails allowing in succession the constituent parts (5-6) of the tray to be separated, the strainers (2) to be separated from their support (5), and the strainers to be placed in the jars. The invention may be used in the manufacture of all dairy products such as cottage cheeses. <IMAGE>
