PURPOSE:To obtain an oxygen sensor which is excellent in workability at a low temperature, and has prevented an element crack, by hooking an insulating tube to which the outside circumference of opening port of a sensor element has been contact-fixed with the inside circumference of tip of said tube, to the housing by the shoulder part of the insulating tube. CONSTITUTION:A sensor element 14 which is provided with the inside and outside electrode layers 14b, 14c consisting of a platinum compound alloy thin film is inserted into the outside electrode leading metal fittings 15, the shoulder part 14a of the element 14 and the connection part 15a of the metal fittings 15 are connected electrically, subsequently the inside insulating tube 19 which is provided with an air lead-in hole 19a and a lead wire drawing-out groove 19b is inserted and placed. After that, the outside insulating tube 18 is placed on their outside, the element 14 is locked to the element locking part 18b of the insulating tube 18 through the metal fittings 15, and after that, the housing 23 is fitted to the outside of the shoulder part 18a of the insulating tube 18, and the upper end part 23a of the housing is fixed by caulking extending over the whole circumference through the cushion material 25 and the locating ring 26, by which an oxygen sensor is formed. |
