Concrete compressive strength is increased by 0.01-0.1(preferably 0.01-0.05) wt.% Cerationia siliqua pods or beans. The additive may be used in raw, roasted, or extd. from or in combinations thereof. with carob flour(in wt. %) and amt. of water(in kg/m3) the 7 and 28 day compressive strengths(Mpa) of 4 mixes were: 0.01, 177.3, 23.08 and 33.55; 0.025, 177.3, 24.12 and 33.38; 0.05, 176.7,. 24.12 and 34.55; 0.10, 176.1, 25.60 and 36.00. Setting times of the 3rd and 4th mix. were slightly retarded. The additives can be used in combination with known admixts. and setting accelerators.
