Title compds.[I; R = C1-3 alkyl were prepd. by treating 4-(alkylthio) - 1 - naphthols [compd. II with epichlorthydrin in the presence of basic ion-exchange resin, followed by amination with isopropylamine. The product is more lipophilic, a stronger vasodilator, a more selective β-adrenergic blocking agent on vascular β-receptors, and gave lower tachycardia than propranolol.
