The invention relates to a press for compacting or extruding material which is enclosed in a capsule, the capsule being placed in a pressure chamber and surrounded by a heat-insulating, easily deformable material such as talc. The press contains a piston (7) which is introduced into the pressure chamber and generates the pressure which is transmitted from the deformable material to the capsule and compresses the latter. The invention is characterised by the fact that the end of the piston (7) at the pressure chamber end exhibits a part (7a) with a chamfer. An effective seal between the pressure-generating piston (7) and the wall (5) of the pressure chamber is achieved in this manner. The deformable material is prevented from being pressed out between the piston (7) and the surrounding wall (5) of the pressure chamber without using a sealing ring. <IMAGE> |
