PURPOSE:To exchange catalyst in a short time without disintegrating these by injecting high-pressure fluid intermittently or continuously to the catalyst layer of the peripheral part of the inlet of a screw conveyor thereby allowing the catalyst to flow into the conveyor inlet part. CONSTITUTION:When a reaction tower 1 is stopped of operation, a transport car is disposed under the hose 26 connected to a dropping port 6, a motor 4 is started and a solenoid valve 10 is opened, then the packed layer is locally collapsed by the own-weight of the apparatus and the turning of a screw 3; at the same time, the collapsion is expanded by the jet flow of the high-pressure fluid from a nozzle 16 to the peripheral part of the inlet of the screw conveyor 3, so that the packed layer is broken over a wide range and is pushed up by the conveyor 3 and falls into a chute 7 from the upper end of the conveyor 3, then is transferred to the transport can by means of a hose 26. The injection of the high-pressure fluid is accomplished continuously or intermittently. If this operation is made reverse, the packing of the catalysts is accomplished. |
