PURPOSE:To realize high-speed operation by decreasing scanning line density when the block of the 1st line agree with that of the current line frequently. CONSTITUTION:The output of photoelectric conversion unit 1 which scans a transmitted original and converts optical information into an electric signal is sent to encoding processing unit 7 by way of change-over switches 4 and 5, and line memories 2 and 3 to be made into a block code, which is modulated by modulation part 9 and transmitted. The output of encoding processing unit 7, on the other hand, is applied to read control unit 11 by way of block code comparison and detection unit 13 and scanning-line-density change-over unit 14. Namely, block code comparison and detection unit 13 makes a bit-to-bit comparison between the block code of the last line and that of the current line and, when the rate of the coincidence exceeds a prescribed value, decreases the scanning line density of photoelectric conversion unit 1. |
