摘要 <p>The parent patent describes a device for making a load-bearing, electrically insulating connection between two lengths of a trolley wire (overhead electrical conductor); the connecting device comprises two parallel glass fibre-reinforced, rod-type plastics insulators fixed to cross-beams, each insulator has a circumferentially grooved sleeve of highly electrically insulating material. Metal skates act as guides, along the lower edge of which current collectors can slide. In this addition, the grooved zone of the sleeve on the rod insulators is restricted to those regions in which the lower face of the plastics rod insulators is higher than the slide track for the current collectors as defined by the lateral skates. Typical uses include a phase insulator or a section insulator. The current collectors do not slide over the grooved lower face of the rod insulators and therefore dirt does not tend to collect in the grooves. The insulators maintain their insulating capability over long periods.</p>
