Hydraulic impulse gun for quarrying - uses high energy fuel and has differential piston to limit combustion pressure

The hydraulic impulse gun is used for quarrying and has a high pressure section and a low pressure section. It uses a differential driving piston. Water is supplied to a chamber through inlet slots and is ejected at high pressure through a nozzle during the working stroke of the piston. The combustion chamber which drives the piston in the low pressure section is supplied with a high energy fuel such as Isopropylnitrate and oxygen. The mixture is ignited by spark plug. The action of the differential piston and control of the fuel quantity limits the mean combustion pressure to 300 to 1500 bar.
