The roof covering has plates of sheet metal, particularly copper, forming a heat exchanger recovering heat from the environment. The plates have a large number of seamless channels (15) running in the lengthwise direction, and through which a heat-transfer medium flows. They (12) are mounted at 100mm. at least from a conventional celd roof (2,6) and are combined into large-area heat exchanger, their lengthwise edges being sealed together. The heat exchanger is set back from the eaves of the cold roof, typically for at least 100mm.
