Air inlet control for IC engine - adjusts air temperature for engine temperature and load via bimetallic strip

The internal combustion engine has a dual function control (18) which adjusts the air inlet temperature to the engine in response to variations in engine temperature and load. The unit is located in the air filter housing and is connected through restriction (22) to the clean air side of the filter. A connection (23) leads to an air actuator which operates a flap valve admitting hot air from around the exhaust manifold into the engine air intake. A connection (24) leads to the engine inlet manifold downstream of the throttle. The bi-metallic strip (25) modifies the flow rate generated by the manifold depression to qive the reouired control.
