<p>Gas-fired tunnel furnace to singe the bristles off pig carcasses has gas burners arranged on both sides and at least one heat exchanger in the dome for the exhaust gases. A solenoid valve automatically turns the water from the mains On and Off in synchronism with the gas burners. Parallel pipes leading to the heat exchanger have restrictor valves, by-passed by two shunts, each with a valve controlled by a temp. probe in the water outlet from the heat exchanger to the zero-pressure storage tank. This recovers a large part of the waste heat for the prepn. of warm water.</p> |
