A polymerisation irradiator for dental work has a source emitting a focussed beam and a electric lamp, its energy source plus a switch to automatically turn it off after a suitable interval, a flexible optical conductor to receive the focussed beam, and a box for the source and the outer end of the light conductor. A convection cooling device consists of an enclosure round the source, it is open at the top and bottom, and has holes above and beneath the box. This device is the only cooling provided. Design eliminates any need for an air blower.
