Electric signal bell with resonance casing - has H-shaped socket supporting striking mechanism and sound plates

The bell has a support mounting carrying the striking mechanism and the sound plates (8) enclosed by a casing (20) which defines a resonance chamber. The mounting comprises an H-shaped socket (1) with the electromagnetic striking mechanism attached to the cross limb and the sound plates (8) supported by respective side limbs. The casing (20) has sound apertures at the sides and is directly fitted over the socket (1), or attached to it via a frame component supporting the operating batteries. Pref. the striking mechanism has a pot-shaped magnet and a coil carrier with upwards projecting terminals (5) either side of a central striker (6) moved to either side against a spring bias, enclosed between two U-shaped core halves. The bell is designed for simplicity of mfr. the plates and casing being interchangeable to alter the tone or sound level.
