PRODUCTION OF CASTING USING REDUCED IRON AS RAW MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To produce cast iron efficiently by the use of reduced iron as raw material by providing a feed port for blast which is heated by heat-exchanging with an exhaust gas to the part of a vertical shaft furnace near its bottom and taking out the exhaust gas from the lower part of the furnace. CONSTITUTION:The reduced iron charged into a vertical shaft furnace 1 through a charge port 2 descends in the furnace 1 and melts in red-hot state in the part below an exhaust gas take-out port 6. It is taken out as hot metal through a tapping hole 3. The exhaust gas of high temp. containing a large amount of CO gas taken out through the port 6 is ignited with an ignition burner 10 by the air sent through a secondary combustion air hole 11 and makes secondary combustion to have further increased temp., thereby heating the air sent in through a cold blast inlet 9 to hot blast in a radiation type heat exchanger 7. This hot blast is fed into the furnace 1 through a tuyere 4 via a hot blast outlet 8 and a blast pipe 5. On the other hand, the exhaust gas cooled by the heat exchanging is conducted to a chimney through an exhaust gas outlet 12.
