The feather is composed of a relatively rigid shaft 4 and two separate vane parts 13, 14, which project out on either side from the shaft and are made of expanded plastic film, which are aligned at an acute angle to the longitudinal direction of the shaft. In a preferred embodiment each vane part projects in over the shaft and the area of the other vane part situated nearest to the shaft, to which it is fixed. The cross-lamination of the films thereby obtained ensures a high strength and bending stiffness in the transition from vane to shaft. Furthermore the feather is extremely easy to manufacture, due to the fact that it consists only of the two films and the shaft, which are joined together in one simple operation. Alternatively, the two vane parts may be placed and fixed between two plastic film strips, one of which is folded over the front of the shaft and is aligned in the direction of the shaft whilst the other lies flat against the rear of the shaft and the two vane parts and is aligned transversely to the shaft. In the two variants the vane parts and the two film strips respectively may be extended to form a casing, which encloses the shaft outside the vane area 6-7 and has two projecting, double- layered longitudinal flaps 10.
