PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of assembling a battery and prevent the internal short-circuit of the battery, by subjecting a nonwoven cloth which is made of a synthetic resin and is contained in the assembled separator to treatment with a porous polyvinyl alcohol. CONSTITUTION:A positive active material 2, an assembled separator 3, and a negative active material 4 principally consisting of zinc are placed in a positive can 1 which also serves as a positive terminal. The positive can 1 is hermetically closed by the use of both a lid 5 which also serves as a negative terminal, and a gasket 6 interposed between the case 1 and the lid 5, and the whole constitutes a button- type alkaline zinc battery. The assembled separator 3 is constituted of a synthetic- resin nonwoven cloth (a) which touches the negative active material 4, and two pieces of cellophane (b) and a polypropylene microporous film (c) that are superposed over the cloth (a) in that order. In addition, the nonwoven cloth (a) which touches the zinc active material 4 is provided with a hydrophilic property by treating it with a polyvinyl alcohol in order to form a porous film over the cloth (a). |
