Water filling in domestic appliances - by measuring time for known part amount and multiplying this as needed

System of filling water into a domestic appliance, such as a dish washer or a washing machine, uses a small vol. of known capacity, such as the sump of the appliance, for timing its filling by two sensors which are connected to an electronic network. A programmer can then be used to set the filling time to a multiple of this part amount to suit the particular operation. The signals from the programmer cause the electronic network to open a solenoid valve for a multiple of the time required to fill the part amount. This compensates for any pressure fluctuations in the water mains and is more accurate than just a time control.
