CONSTITUTION:When pulse control voltage Vc is applied from terminal 36 to light shield film 14b covering photodiode 1, the charge surface is lowered. If light hv is incident through gap (d) between light shield films 14a and 14b, signal charge generated by photoelectric conversion is stored, and as a result, the charge surface is raised. When voltage Vc becomes zero, signal charge is transferred to the well of reading means 7 because the charge surface generated by signal charge is raised. Thus, since the voltage applied from one end of transfer gate 2 is a DC voltage, an equal potential exists in any position of gate 2. Since films 14a and 14b are made of low-resistance conductive materials, distortion and delay are not generated in the control voltage waveform at points distant from the sending terminal even if voltage Vc is applied.
