<p>The machine comprises a horizontal work table in which is set a horizontal chain conveyor with spaced, transverse transporter channels fixed on top of the chain. Each fish is placed in a channel with its head sticking out at one end and its tail at the other. The fish is carried through a trimming station where projecting head and tail are cut off by a pair of spaced, coaxial disc blades rotated by a motor. The trimmed fish next passes through a gutting station having a pair of powerful suction nozzles which evacuate the guts into a waste disposal compartment of a vacuum receiver. The trimmed and gutted fish is then taken through high pressure water sprays in a washing section. Finally, each prepared fish is loaded into and pref. consolidated in an open top can. The trimming station is pref. supplied continually with water to keep the blades clean and assist evacuation of heads and tails. At the discharge end of the machine, fluid power cylinders are pref. employed to load and pack down the fish into cans. Considerable saving of manual labour where high prodn. is required.</p> |
