The vehicle seat for handicapped people can pivot from inside to outside the vehicle through the door opening. The seat is mounted on a plate the rear edge of which pivots about one end of an arm. The other end of the arm is pivoted to a base attached to the vehicle bodywork allowing the arm to swing parallel to the base. The arm is locked to both the plate and the base pref. using releasable pegs which can move parallel to the pivot axes and locate into holes provided in the plate and base respectively.
