The swim fin has a variable inclination to reduce the fatigue felt at the front of the feet and the ankle and to aid propulsion. The reinforcing rib (6) of the fin are extended under the foot (3,4), as far as the heel. The ribs progressively diminish in size towards the end of the fin (7). The fin moves round an articulation point (5) under the arch of the foot and the rib extensions, or sole, form a lever pressing against the foot.
