<p>The appts. consists of an inverted U-frame with its two legs pointing downwards. The bottom of each leg is provided with an electrically-insulating bearing half-shell (I) used in conjunction with an electrically-conducting lower half-shell (II). Each pair of half-shells (I,II) form a circular bearing for a stub axle fixed to each end of a horizontal, perforated drum contg. the workpieces and rotated by a motor. Each stub axle carries a circular row of contact segments insulated from each other; and each segment is provided with a horizontal contact bar projecting into the drum to supply electric current to the workpieces. The segments and their contact bars are only fed with electric current when they are in contact with the two lower half-shells, so electricity is saved when the contact bars are above a heap of small workpieces which remain in the lower half of the drum due to gravity.</p> |
