The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating cancer, which comprises deoxynivalenol having an activity for enhancing expression of interferon regulatory factor-1 (IRF-1). The composition for preventing or treating cancer, comprising deoxynivalenol having an activity for enhancing expression of interferon regulatory factor-1 (IRF-1), stabilizes mRNA of interferon regulatory factor 1 (IRF-1) as a tumor suppressor factor by deoxynivalenol and increases expression of protein. In addition, the interferon regulatory factor 1 whose expression is increased by deoxynivalenol increases expression of kinase anchor protein 12 (AKAP 12) and pleiomorphic adenoma gene-like 1 (PLAGL1) as tumor suppressor genes. Thus, the composition according to the present invention is useful for pharmaceuticals for preventing or treating cancer.
