The indicator (10) comprises an elongate body (12) composed of porous material. The body (12) has parallel longitudinal edges (14 and 16), an upper side (18) and a lower side (20). The upper side (18) is able to absorb water, while the lower side (20) is impermeable to fluid. A plurality of strips (22, 24, 26 and 28) which are arranged at intervals and extend lengthwise and each of which contains a nutrient substrate with selected bactericidal or bacteriostatic pharmaceuticals is applied directly on the upper side (18) of the indicator body (12). One of the strips contains only nutrient substrate. This indicator makes it possible for the physician to determine which pharmaceutical applied to the body (12) is most suitable for the treatment of a particular strain of microorganisms with which the patient to be examined is infected. <IMAGE> |
