The grass loader unit is designed to be mounted on a mower. It has a conveyor mechanism for the cut grass behind the cutting tool. The loader (20) comprises a collector (21) extending for the width of the mower (10) and containing a member (30) delivering the cut grass continuously in the sideways direction. The conveyor mechanism (41) is connected directly to the collector outlet, and delivers into a discharge pipe. The collector can comprise a rear wall, enclosing a flail mower housing and extending downwards to a trough (25), in which works an auger parallel to the cutting tool.
