<p>In a nesting arrangement for air filters, rectangular filter frames are provided with notches or recesses which allow a plurality of filters to nest together in an overlapping, laterally offset relationship to conserve space for shipment or storage. Air filters (30, 60, 110) comprise fibrous filter elements (32, 62, 112) and rectangular frames (34, 64, 114) which support the marginal edges of filter elements (32, 62, 112). Recesses (54, 56), (82, 84), (134, 136) are formed in the front faces of the frames (34, 64, 114) adjacent to diagonally opposite corners which permit the filters (30, 60, 110) to be stacked with each filter nested with one or both of its neighbors. Alternatively, recesses (54, 56) may be placed adjacent corners of the frame (34) on the same frame member (36). In other embodiments, a pair of recesses (82, 82), (85, 85), (88, 88) are placed adjacent a corner of frames (64) and a pair of recesses (84, 84), (87, 87) are placed adjacent the diagonally opposite corner on the front or back face of frames (64) whereby a plurality of filters (60) are nested.</p> |
