Mounting structure (15, 115) for mounting a closure (11, 111)for selective automatic movement to a limited access position and controlled manual movement beyond the limited access position to a fully open position, as desired. The closure may be retained in the space enclosing disposition by a retainer (16, 116) which, when released, permits the mounting structure to automati- cally move the closure to the limited access position partially exposing the enclosed space (12, 112). In one form, a pair of spring biased mechanisms (17, 18) is provided for effecting the automatic movement of the closure to the limited access position and for assisting the user in swinging the closure beyond the limited access position to the fully open position. In a second form, a single spring biased mechanism (117) is provided for effecting solely the desirable automatic movement to the limited access position. In each form, a fixed pivot axis is provided by a pivotal connection (33, 133) of a control link (28, 128) of the mechanism to the closure (11, 111) by structure for locking the link against pivotal movement when the closure is brought to the limited access position. A manually adjustable mechanism (45, 46, 47, 48, 49) may be provided for adjusting the spring force of the second spring mechanism as desired. |
