PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot rolling titanium slab capable of improving yield of titanium materials by preventing a seam flaw or ear cracking generated during the hot rolling of the titanium slab.SOLUTION: A hot rolling titanium slab has a metal surface exposed part and a black skin remaining part on the side of a titanium slab. The treatment method of a titanium slab side face grinds the side surface of the slab by 0.7 to 2.0 mm, and removes a visually observed defect by partial treatment. Thus, the titanium slab is prepared by grinding the slab side face by the treatment method and removing the visually observed defect by the partial treatment.EFFECT: With this level of grinding, a black skin remains in a part of the side face. However, a defect developing to a seam flaw or ear cracking can be satisfactorily identified visually even when the black skin partially remains.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
