Method and apparatus for the production of metal powder

To produce metal powder with a low oxygen content, a pouring stream of the corresponding metal (10) is formed in a granulation chamber (1). At the top, this chamber contains an inert or reductive gas atmosphere (4) and, at the bottom, a reducing liquid. The entering pouring stream (13) is divided by means of a pressurized atomisation medium (15). The metal particles formed are cooled partially in the gas atmosphere and the resulting powder is collected in the reducing liquid (2). <IMAGE>
