A magnetic drum separator for removing magnetic material from wet materials such as slurries. The separator incorporates a nonmagnetic drum 11 with an electromagnet 19 and a permanent magnet member 26.... 29 in the drum, and a shroud 12 disposed concentric with lower periphery of the drum, with an inlet 15 for material in the form of a slurry to the space 13 between the shroud and the drum, and an outlet 17 for magnetic material adjacent the permanent magnets. An outlet 16 for nonmagnetic material is provided in the shroud below the drum, adjacent the electromagnet. Thus, the nonmagnetic material is discharged at the outlet 16 and the magnetic material is carried by the drum to the outlet 17 and discharged. <IMAGE> |
