<p>Anilide derivs. of formula (I) are new: (R is -CHR4.COR5 or a gp. of formula (a); X is -C(Y).YR7, -C(Y).NR8R9, -C(SR7)=NR10, -COR11 or H; R1=1-4C alkyl or alkoxy, halo, 1-3C alkylthio or 3-4C alkenyl; R2 is H, 1-4C alkyl or halo; R3, R4 and R6 are H or methyl; R5 is hydroxy, 1-4C alkoxy, 1-3C alkylthio, 1-2C alkoxy-(1-2C)alkoxy, or amino, opt. substd. by 1 or 2 1-2C alkyl; Y is oxygen or sulphur; R7 is 1-6C alkyl (opt. substd. by 1-2C alkoxy or halo), 3-6C cycloalkyl, or 3-4C alkenyl or alkynyl; R8 is H or 1-4C alkyl; R9 is 1-4C alkyl (opt. substd. by halo or 1-2C alkoxy), 3-4C alkenyl, furfuryl or tetrahydrofurfuryl, but if Y is sulphur, then R8 and R9 are not both 1-4C alkyl; R10 is cyano, 1-4C alkyl (opt. substd. by halo or 1-2C alkoxy), allyl or furfuryl; R11 is H, 1-4C alkyl (opt. substd. by 1-3 halo, 1-2C alkoxy or 1-2C alkylthio), 2-4C alkenyl, but cannot be opt. halo-substd. alkyl when R is gp. (a).).. (I) are useful as fungicides, esp. against Phycomycetes such as Pythium, Phytophthora, Peronospora, Pseudoperonospar and Plasmopara. They have a partly systemic action and can be applied to plants, seeds or soil. (I) are also useful as preservatives for wood, paints, metal working coolants, etc.</p> |
