The detachable coupling for round tubular furniture elements (3) includes a round sleeve (4) with an external thread (5). The sleeve locates tapered segments (9-12) which together form a collet for clamping one or several cylindrical furniture elements (3). When the elements (3) are inserted into the collet holes, an external sleeve (19) with internal taper (21) and screw thread is fitted on the collet body (4,5). The collet sleeve spigot (4) is provided for the attachment of further elements. The collet assembly has blind bores for insertion of coupling rods or pins.
