AUTOMATIC SWITCHING SYSTEM FOR FAULTY TERMINAL

PURPOSE:To automatically switch a faulty terminal to its substitute terminal by using a fault recovery monitor timer to discriminate a temporary fault from a permanent fault of a terminal. CONSTITUTION:A fault recovery monitor timer functions to discriminate a temporary fault from a permanent fault of a terminal. When a terminal control task (A) detects the fault of a printer (A), the task (A) sets a terminal fault recovery monitor timer to monitor the fault recovery of the printer (A). If the fault is recovered before the time-out state of the monitor timer, a temporary fault of the terminal is decided. Thus the printer (A) is not switched and the output message is continued to the printer (A). While a permanent fault of the terminal is decided in case the monitor timer has a time-out state. Thus the task (A) is switched to a task (B) and a printer (B) which is controlled by the task (B) continues automatically the output of the output message.
