PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a workflow system for managing individual documents of a print job on the basis of recipient preferences.SOLUTION: A controller of a workflow server: receives 202 through an interface print data defining a print job that includes documents that each indicate an intended recipient for delivery: directs 204 devices of a print shop in accordance with a workflow that comprises an ordered set of activities to perform upon the documents: acquires 206 preferences for the intended recipients; correlates 208 documents in the print job with the acquired preferences; and alters 210 processing of the correlated documents in the workflow on the basis of the preferences of the intended recipients.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
